Punjab Wrestler Gani lifts 89th Jhajjar Kotli Kesari title

KATRA, Apr 16: Pahelwan Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab lifted 89th Jhajjar Kotli Kesari 2017 title by defeating wrestler Bhupinder of Ajnala in Punjab in the first malli bout that lasted for 23 minutes at Jhajjarkotli, near here.
Dangal was organized by Jhajjar Kotli Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wresting Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and chairman Shining Star School Jhajjar Kotli Dugra Dass Thappa.
Chairman J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Prem Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers. Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma who is also Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, President Senior Citizens Forum (Regd.) Katra and Vice-President Chairman Sports Council District Reasi presided over the function.
Prominent persons who were present on the occasion included General Secretary District Reasi Indian Style Wrestling Association Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Pahelwan Balkar Singh, S.H.O Rakesh Singh, Bashmir Mohd (Retired SO Education), Rakesh Badyal, District Social Welfare officer Rashid Mohd., Naib Tehsildar, Varun Sanmotra (Hotelier), Yash Paul Sharma, Sarpanch Rehmat Ali, Mohd. Saqiq and Madan Msohan Dubey.
In all 45 bouts were played in the one day Vishal Dangal .
The winner of Ist malli bout Abdul Gani was awarded with cash prize of Rs 25,000 along with Jhajjar Kotli Kesari Patta by the dignitaries on the occasion, while runners-up wrestler Bhupinder was given Rs 16,000 by Dugra Dass Thappa, Swarn Singh Charak and Varun Sanmotra.
The prize money for the first malli bout was contributed by Ravi Kumar Baru of Awadh Travels India.
The Proceedings of the Dangal were conducted by Dugra Dass Thappa, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Mohd Fareed, while the welcome address was presented by Ravi Baru and the vote of thanks was presented by Swarn Singh Charak.
Prem Choudhary (NIS Wrestling Coach) while speaking on the occasion focussed on streamlining the youth towards healthy lifestyles so as to save the property of Nation from the devastation of drugs and allied vices.
