Punjab resident arrested with intoxicants

JAMMU, Dec 26: Bakshi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Vivek Gupta arrested a man hailing from Punjab along with large quantity of intoxicant capsules.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Bakshi Nagar Police Station laid a naka and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking, as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape from the spot, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 3000 intoxicant capsules from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Santok Raj, a resident of Sujjanpur, Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The accused has came from his native area to hand over the consignment to his associate in Jammu, but before that, Bakshi Nagar police arrested him and foiled his attempt to make youth drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 156/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Naresh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Pranav Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
