SUNDERNAGAR, Jan 1: Punjab qualified for National Santosh Trophy today after defeating Jammu and Kashmir by a solitary goal in an all important match at MLSN College here.
In pool B match of trophy played today, both the teams could not score any goal till 77 minute of play, when Rajbir Singh of Punjab in a tough contest succeeded in scoring a goal helping his side to gain a crucial lead.
The win confirmed entry of Punjab into National Santosh Trophy.
Earlier, in Pool A match played between Uttarakhand and Haryana, former beat later in an exciting contest by one goal to nil (1-0) and Anuj Rawat was the goal scorer, who converted a good move into a goal in 72nd minute of the match.
Nine teams participated in the tournament.
