JAMMU, Oct 13: Punjab and Bihar clinched the top three slots on the day 3 of the All India Devotional Song Competition at Yog Ashram complex Katra.
The competition being organized as a part of Navratra Festival was inaugurated on the third day by SDM Katra Ashok Sharma and Celebrity Singer Dr Sumangal Arora in presence of Chairman Devotional Song Committee and President Hotel Association Katra Rakesh Wazir, Tehsildar Katra Sunil Sharma, Acharya Swami Yoga Nand Ji Maharaj, Virender Kesar, Ajay Sharma, Gopal Singh and many others.
In this preliminary round of competition, all three slots were clinched by singers from outside Jammu and Kashmir. Sukhjinder Jit from Amritsar took 1st position, while second position was clinched by Almast Sonu from Punjab and the third position was shared by Anmol Raja from Hoshiarpur Punjab and Afroj Raj from Bihar. Among the 11 auditioned participants, 5 participants were from outside J&K and 6 were from J&K. Cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 were given to winners of the third day respectively.
The competition was adjudged by the panels of experts in music including Celebrity Singer Dr Sumangal Arora, Dr Usha Bhagati Ex.HOD Music PG MAM College Jammu, Dr Surinder Sharma Head of the Department Government Degree College Sanjoli Himachal Pradesh and Dr CL Verma, Ex-Chairman Post Graduate University of Himachal Pradesh.
On the occasion, famous celebrity singer Dr Sumangal Arora enthralled the audience with his melodious songs. Ravi Kumar, Former winner of All India Devotional Song Competition also left the audience spell bound with his sings.
The proceeding of the competition was conducted by Rakesh Wazir, Chairman of the Competition.
