Pulwama terror attack: Reports of protests, condemnation continue to pour in

JAMMU, Feb 18: There seems no let up in public anger against Pulwama terror attack as reports of protests by various organizations condemning the incident continued to pour in from different parts of Jammu on Monday.
The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, held a demonstration outside the court premises, under the leadership of the Bar Association president B S Slathia. Despite imposition of curfew by the District Administration, a large number of lawyers gathered in front of the main gate and held a peaceful Dharna from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. General public also joined the lawyers on the Dharna site for expressing their solidarity with the families of the martyrs who laid down their lives in service of the Nation.

The speakers were also infuriated on the unwarranted approach of JKAP in taking biased action against the peaceful nationalists raising pro-India and anti-Pakistan slogans while giving a leeway and protection to the anti-nationals who were raising anti-national and provocative slogans. The lawyers in one voice urged upon the Governor and Administration to bring to book all those anti-national elements who are trying to vitiate the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of Jammu. It was asserted that the elements who are out to exploit the situation on communal lines need to be identified and booked/proceeded under law.
Various Bar Associations of Jammu province at District and Tehsil levels also abstained from work and protested against the dastardly attack of the militants upon CRPF Jawans at Pulwama Srinagar.
At Udhampur, Panthers Party activists under the leadership of the NPP State president Balwant Singh Mankotia took out a massive Tiranga Bike Rally, which passed from various Bazaars and concluded at Slathia Chowk.
Expressing deep anguish over the Pulwama terror attack, Mankotia said that people of India want strict action against Pakistan. “Whole nation is united and standing with Central Government and waiting for the revenge of our martyr jawans,” he said and also reiterated the demand to declare Pakistan as terrorist country. Later in the evening, a Mashaal rally was also taken out by the NPP activists for peace to the CRPF martyrs and expressing solidarity with the bereaved families.
At Dudu, a large number of people assembled from the adjoining areas and took out a rally amidst raising of slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jai and also denouncing Pakistan. The rally was led by Ex Sarpanch and BJP Mandal president Hans Raj Thakur, who appealed the Government of India to eliminate Pakistan from world map.
Members of Team Jammu also took out a protest march against the Pulwama terror attack and purported raising of anti-national slogans by some miscreants, who were attempting to vitiate atmosphere of Jammu.
Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal asked the administration to act promptly and take stern action against all such elements from Kashmir, who are temporarily staying in Jammu. He further said that those who are fond of Pakistan and have no respect for India and martyrs, must be immediately deported to Pakistan. He also criticized some of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police personnel who displayed their communal attitude by beating-up city residents despite having curfew passes and demanded immediately replacement of such Cops.
Outraged over Pulwama terror attack, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists today took out a rally from the Purkhoo Double Bridge and passed through Gumpul, Tugguchak and other areas.
The rally was led by ABVP activist Akash Sharma, who appealed the Central Government to take stern actions against Pakistan for avenging the Pulwama attack and martyrdom of CRPF Jawans.
Expressing grief and condolences to the bereaved families of martyrs of Pulwama suicide attack, president J&K Dharmarth Trust B R Kundal strongly condemned this dastardly act and said that terrorism in any form should be condemned and dealt with iron hand. Making a strong appeal for maintaining communal harmony and amity in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the present situation, B R Kundal said that peace and tranquility is a must for the unity and development of the State.
In a statement issued today, president of the Trust appealed the people of J&K not to fall prey to the vicious propaganda and rumors by certain anti national and anti social elements saying that such elements are always in search of the opportunity to disturb the peace and create hatred. He said that Jammu province has remained a glaring example of religious and regional tolerance and we should not do anything which goes against this spirit.
All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Dr M L Rao and expressed grief over the martyrdom of CRPF Jawans in Pulwama terror attack. The Sabha expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of CRPF martyrs and urged the Government of India to take necessary measures for wiping out terrorism from J&K. A two-minute silence was also observed for peace to the CRPF martyrs.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta condoled the sacrifice of security personnel in the Pulwama terror attack on February 14 and encounter today. He said the sacrifice of the brave soldiers would not go in vain and soon Pakistan would be taught a lesson for ever. He also criticized the role of some mainstream political parties giving anti India statements and thus diluting the minds of innocent Kashmiri people. He said role of all such leaders from National Conference and PDP should be thoroughly examined and the culprits should be put behind the bars. He said there is need to formulate a policy to check the role of all those elements who were providing any type of assistance to anti national elements.
Col Sushil Pathania, State president of the Sainik Samaj Party J&K, has condemns the inhuman and barbaric attack on CRPF martyrs in total defiance to human’s spirit and expressed party’s solidarity with the brave martyr’s families . He further stated that Government must take stringent action against the enemies outside and within the country and create potent deterrence to ensure no repetition of such incidents.
A meeting of All J&K Public School Welfare Association was convened by its president S Jodh Singh Isher to pay tributes to the CRPF martyrs. The meet strongly condemned the brutal terror attack and urged the Government to crush terrorism with an Iron hand besides not sparing even those who support terrorists in guise of so called mainstream leaders and stone pelters.
Expressing shock over the brutal terror attack and martyrdom of CRPF Jawans, NCP student wing leader Er Rishi Kaul Kilam has also alleged negligence of the Government in the incident. “Our Government in Center has always showed overconfidence and statement of Home Minister Raj Nath Singh that Kashmir was now peaceful and things were better now, led to provocation of terrorists, who committed this heinous act to show their presence,” he added.
Activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) staged a protest demonstration demanding a retired Army Chief as J&K Governor.
Addressing the protesters JWAM president, Sunil Dimple said that Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in J&K should be deferred for a year till normalcy is restored in the State.
JWAM leader expressed resentment against the martyrdom of Major and other men of army and said that Prime Minister Modi should take some strict action against Pakistan.
Dimple also demanded scraping of Indus Water Treaty and an end to all the diplomatic channels with Pakistan apart from closing of all trade and bus services to Pakistan.
