Public meeting at Gandharwan supports CBI probe into Rassana case

JAMMU, June 8: Anguished over Government’s silence over public demand for CBI probe in unfortunate Rassana murder case and to show their solidarity with the mass movement led by former Minister, Ch. Lal Singh, a large number of residents of village Gandharwan of Akhnoor tehsil assembled at the village Panchayat Ghar yesterday and unequivocally demanded CBI probe into unfortunate Rassana murder case. Ch. Lal Singh, who is spearheading the agitation for CBI probe, addressed the meeting.
People of Gandharwan knew that there are question marks over the investigations in Rassana murder case. The investigations have not been done transparently they felt. Hence their resentment was no secret. It was in tune with other public resentment which was being expressed by way of protests marches, public meetings and most aggressively by the medium of social media. Knowing that protests were going on continuously at various places and in continuation of the same process people assembled at Gandharwan.
People from all castes attended the meeting and many of them expressed their views on the unfortunate happenings of Rassana on the eve of this year’s Baisakhi festival. They appealed Government to order CBI probe into Rassana case so that people’s apprehensions over the botched up investigation is set aside. While speaking to the public, Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu described the case systematically and covered the sequence of events which explained the method, intention and report of the SIT suspect in the eyes of the public.
He also brought out that there is something more in the case to what meets the eye and the gathering was more than convinced of the demand for CBI to meet out justice to both the parties, the victim and the accused. Others who spoke included Hony Capt Ghani Mohd Retd, Ex Sarpanch Shakti Ram Sharma, Advocate Pushpinder Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Daler Singh etc. Th. K P Singh, who organized the meeting appealed people to stand united and support Ch. Lal Singh in his struggle for justice.
