JAMMU, Mar 17: A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Private School’s Coordination Committee (PSCC) met Principal Secretary of School Education Department Shaleen Kabra.
During the meeting, the members of the delegation said that the steps taken by the Government vide order numbering 119-Edu of 2017, Dated 15-03-2017, for reforms in the Board Examinations concerning re-scheduling of the annual and bi-annual/private examinations, the number of teaching days in an academic year, provisional admission, assessment of practical knowledge through alternative means, etc will go a long way.
The delegation members said that the decision to admit the students who appear in class 10th exams provisionally in class 11th after conclusion of Board exams will save the precious time of students that is nearly equal to a period of four months, which was used to be wasted earlier.
The members of the delegation were happy to learn that the gap between annual and bi-annual examination of class 10th will be reduced in a manner that would provide an opportunity to unsuccessful candidates to save their academic year.
They urged Principal Secretary to make provisional admissions to class 11th mandatory for all students who wish to study further more. The members said that decision to review the marking scheme of Science subjects and the assessment of practical knowledge through theory papers by appropriately framing questions for the purpose will also help the students as there were no fixed parameters in the prevailing scheme to allot marks and sometimes the deserving candidates were not allotted marks as per their capability and this new method will also prove helpful to overcome the undue exploitation.
Those who attended the meeting were Rameshwar Manhas, Dheeraj Gupta, Neeraj Gupta,  Balkaran Singh, Sanjeet Kumar, Maninder Singh, Jasbir Singh and Ebby Cheriyal.
