Protests against frequent power cuts

SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Tired of unscheduled frequent power cuts, scores of villagers today protested against Power Development Department (PDD) at Koil area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The protesters came out on roads shouting anti-PDD and anti-Government slogans and blocked the road connecting Pulwama town with Awantipora and other dozens of adjoining villages.
The residents including the students, shopkeepers and traders said PDD’s anti-people policy forced them to come out on roads.
They said that despite paying huge electricity bills on time, the PDD has always followed their trend on curtailment. “We will not pay electricity bill if unscheduled frequent power cuts would continue,” they said.
