JAMMU, Sept 4: As the ongoing chain hunger strike by the Teachers’ Joint Action Committee entered into 6th consecutive day on Tuesday, the protesting teachers announced to go on mass casual leave tomorrow on Teachers’ Day.
The announcement was made during protest demonstration at the venue of chain hunger strike near Press Club Jammu. Today’s protest was organized under the leadership of State vice-president JKRTTF, Gulzabir Daing, provincial president JKRTTF, Rajesh Jamwal and district president Reasi, Balwan Singh who are also TJAC members.
The teachers who began their fast this morning for the next 24 hour, included Bashiru ud Din, Tahir Hussain, Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohd Bashirt, Surinder Singh, Narjan Singh, Mohd Jamir Wani, Mohd Asaqe, Mohd Farroq, Shavir Ahmand, Mohd Akhtar, Nagir Ahmand and Gulam Mahudin
The protesting teachers are demanding benefits of 7th Pay Commission to SSA/RMSA teachers and Masters besides delinking of SSA salary from MHRD funding.
