RAJOURI, Jan 11: The people from Old Thannamandi today held strong protest at Shahdra Chowk in the town against PDD authorities and blocked road for two hours.
The people alleged that about 20 days back, the local electric transformer got damaged and the matter was reported to the concerned PDD field staff . But despite this, for the last twenty days the concerned staff did not bother to get it replaced or repaired.
They sat on the dharna in the middle of the road along with damaged transformer and disrupted the movement of traffic from 10.30 am onwards. SHO Thannamandi arrived at the spot with some force but the people refused to lift dharna and clear road. They raised loud slogans against BJP-PDP Govt, Power Minister (DyCM), Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu and XEn PDD Rajouri.
After sometime, SDM Thannamandi Abdul Qayoom and SDPO arrived there. They also spoke to the Executive Engineer concerned on phone. After their assurance that their transformer will be replaced within 24 hours, the people then lifted dharna at around 12.30 pm.
