Protest against PDD, people block road

MENDHAR, Sept 16: Residents from Ghani, Uchhad, Dabraj and Mankote villages and adjoining hamlets held strong protest demonstration against the PDD authorities for their failure to restore electricity supply to these villages in last two weeks.
The villagers of this area came out on Mandhar-KG-Poonch road at Mankote and started protest demonstration at around 7 am. They raised barricades to block the road and then started protest demonstration. The movement of vehicles came to halt on this road with the protest of the villagers. They raised loud slogans against the Chief Minister Incharge PDD, Chief Engineer and AEE Mendhar.
Sarpanch Dabraj was leading the protest. He alleged that AEE, PDD Mendhar and Executive Engineer were responsible for their failure to restore electricity supply to the people in last 13 days. He said in most of the areas of district Poonch,   the power supply has been restored but the field  staff of this area is hardly bothered about the plight of the people and even the senior PDD officials were also sleeping over the matter.
Later, Tehsildar Mankote Shahzad Khan and SHO concerned reached the spot and they assured the people to take up the matter with the higher authorities. Tehsildar also spoke to AEE PDD Mendhar on phone and asked him to restore power supply on war footing in this belt. There after the people lifted dharna at around 11 am.
