Protest over failure of water supply in Ramnagar

UDHAMPUR, July 7: The locals of  village of  Katwalta Panchyat in teshil Ramnagar of district Udhampur today held  protest against PHE department for failure to ensure supply of drinking water in the area.
The villagers  said that PHE department has failed to ensure supply of drinking water in the area and locals are totally depend on the natural source but the water of natural source is most unsafe and unhygienic  for public consumption.  It is also muddy.  Due to consumption of  unhygienic  water the small children  and old people of  the village have been mostly suffering  from intestine problem.
Inhabitants of Katwalta where the maximum number of people became victim of diarrhea had been drinking water mixed with `grubby’ and mud for the several months.
” We  informed time to time to the higher authorities but in vain.
The  PHE department was installing the pipe line,  but they failed to provide water. Many pipes are broken, the villagers are totally dependent  on the rain water.  We appeal the Governor NN Vohra and the   Prime Minister  take care of us,” they maintained.
They warned to launch agitation if  the Government failed to provide them  water supply.
Prominent among them included Ram Dass, Mansa Ram, Darshana Devi, Satya Devi, Pushpa Devi,  Rekha Devi, Badri Nath, Charn Dass, Romesh Chander etc.
