Srinagar, Feb 23: Scores of Kashmir University (KU) students today staged a protest against ‘disappearance’ of a law student here and sought his whereabouts.
A third semester student of Kashmir University, Aqib Malik, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, resident of Shopian district is missing from past two days and there is no clue about him so far. He is a Law student and was recently seen during a protest inside varsity campus against killings of militants.
The protesting students said they suspect that Aqib might have been detained by police or any other law enforcing agency. They demanded his whereabouts and threatened intensified protests in case of inaction. However, a police official said that the student has not been detained by police or any other agency.
“We have already received a missing complaint and search for Aqib is underway. We have not detained him,” the official maintained. The protesting students of Kashmir University dispersed only after Vice Chancellor’s assurance of taking up the matter with higher authorities.
