RAJOURI, Jan 19: The people from Darhal town and about half a dozen adjoining villages today held strong protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for its total failure to restore power supply to the area in last four days.
The town also observed bandh as mark of protest and public held protest demonstration for about four hours. The people from adjoining   villages  of Topa, Hilltap, Chowkian, Sarda and Simbli  also joined. They pointed out that about eight transformers are lying out of order and the PDD authorities at Rajouri have failed to replace the same or get them repaired.
They alleged that even the concerned PDD staff has failed to remove the damaged transformers from their respective places.  They shouted slogans against Executive Engineer PDD Rajouri, Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu and Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh. They said that during rains and snowfall entire power supply has been snapped to the area and the PDD staff failed to restore the same.
SHO Darhal Insp Javed tried to pacify the agitating people but they did not buzz at all. Then he contacted Executive Engineer , PDD at Rajouri. Later,  AEE PDD along with other staff  arrived there and talked to the agitating people. They assured to replace their transformers and get them repaired in  two days. Upon this, the people then lifted protest dharna from the main road at around 2 pm.
