RAJOURI, Apr 22: The people from Reyon and adjoining villages and hamlets of Kotranka tehsil in district Rajouri today came out on Rajouri-Budhal road and held strong protest demonstration and dharna on the road against CAPD authorities for the shortage of ration in the area.
A large number of people led by Sarpanch Manzoor Choudhary came out on the road at around 11 am and raised barricades. They disrupted the movement of vehicular traffic and started their protest against Coalition Government for its failure to ensure essential supplies to the public. They were shouting slogans against CAPD Minister Ch Ramzan, Director CAPD Jammu, AD Food Rajouri Kewel Krishan and in-charge storekeeper Kotranka, Reyaz Ahmed.
The villagers alleged that for the last three months, they are being denied ration by the ration dealer/ depot concerned. Neither APL nor BPL ration quota is being provided to them. The village Sarpanch said that he along with some Panchayat members had even approached the Storekeeper CAPD Kotranka Reyaz Ahmed who claimed that due to elections, they are not being provided ration from Jammu and after elections are over, the supply would be restored. He alleged that giving wrong pleas to the innocent public, the concerned officials were indulging in black marketing of the public quota. They also demanded inquiry into the matter.
Due to blockade, a large number of vehicles remained stranded on both side of the road. Around 3 pm Tehsildar Kotranka Israr Mir and SHO Haji Bashir rached the spot and assured the agitating public to take up the matter and higher level and ensure them ration supply. Tehsildar even talked to DC Rajouri, who directed him to hold inquiry. It was conveyed to the DC that storekeeper was misguiding to the innocent public and inviting trouble. He is also said to be the close relative of ruling party leader.
On the assurance of Tehsildar and DC the agitating public then lifted dharna at around 3 pm. Assistant Director CAPD, Rajouri Kewel Krishan when asked about any such order regarding suspension of ration supply during elections, said no such order has been issued. He claimed that there was some shortage in last two months and even Atta supply was bit delayed due to grinding in the mills. Today, a truck supply of Atta has been dispatched to the area and within 2-3 days, the ration would be delivered to the rationees in the area.
