SRINAGAR: Property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed in a devastating fire in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said here this evening.
They said that a fire broke out in the top floor of two-storied Aziz shopping complex at Duderhama in Ganderbal early Thursday morning. Fire tenders from different parts of Ganderbal and adjoining districts were rushed to douse the leaping flames, clearly visible from a distance.
However, the fire engulfed the top floor of three-storied Shah Hamdan complex, another shopping complex nearby. They said it took firefighters around six hours to douse the fire. “The top floors of both the shopping complexes, which were used as godowns by many shopkeepers, were completely damaged,” they said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, they said, adding that no one was injured in the incident. (AGENCIES)
