Property dealer held with heroin

JAMMU, Nov 4: A property dealer was arrested today with 16 gram of heroin from Gandhi Nagar area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, during naka checking at Valmiki chowk, a police party of police station Gandhi Nagar intercepted a car bearing registration number JK12B-8234, which was being driven by a man identified as Kamljeet Singh alias Sonu son of late Surinder Singh, resident of H No 1388, Sector No 7, Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
“During checking of the driver of the car, 16 gram of heroin along with a cash amount of Rs 3.5 lakh was recovered from his possession”, he said, adding, in this connection, a case FIR No 200/2017 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and further investigation of the case was going on.
According to the official, the arrested person was a property dealer by profession. Besides this, he is involved in the drug distribution (especially heroin) in Jammu region. He was one of the main suppliers of drugs in Jammu region and used to sell the heroin in small packets which amounts to 10 gram costing Rs 45000 each.
The arrest and recovery was made by Deputy SP (P), Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, SHO, police station Gandhi Nagar, under the supervision of SDPO, City South, Mohd Rafiq Manhas, Sandeep Choudhary, SP City South, Jammu and under overall supervision of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu.
