Promoting mother tongue

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Enbarrassment for Govt on Dogri issue in upper House’ DE Jan 10.
The Government must ensure that all six ‘mother languages’ are taught in schools with due interest. The matter does not end with mere prescribing syllabus and supplying books to students. It has been seen that these books do not reach students well in time, but pretty late after academic session begins. Most of the schools where  a particular ‘mother tongue’ is taught, do not have the service of a subject teacher. The Head of the school then entrusts it any teacher who knows a litle bit of the subject.
This way no justice is done to students and the subject. The Government must recruit these teachers first and then introduce the subject. In case, linguistics, academicians, politician feel it necessary that a mother tongue has to be preserved, then they should take all those necessary steps that are required to be taken to promote it. Mere passing saying just for the sake of saying is not going to do any good to the language. A policy needs to be enacted in this  regard.
Yours etc…
