Prof Mattoo felicitates IBPJ Medal winners, announces Rs 5 lakh to Association

JAMMU Feb 11: Advisor to the Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, today pledged support of Rs 5 lakh to the Indian Blind and Para Judo Association (IBPJA) for developing sports infrastructure and augmenting sports facilities for the specially-abled sportspersons in the State.
On the occasion, Prof. Mattoo felicitated 14 differently abled sportspersons who won medals at the 6thNational Blind and Deaf Judo Championships held in Lucknow recently wherein the contingent won 14 medals which include 5 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Prof. Mattoo congratulated the winners and also appreciated the coaches, teachers and all those who worked to make this happen.
He asked the Sports council to incorporate other games also and provide platform to the children particularly especially abled children to participate in the games as this will hone their talent and confidence.
He said that Government is taking steps to improve the facilities for the sportspersons and special focus is being laid on providing conducive environment to differently abled children enabling them to perform to the best of their ability and potential.
He said that our sportspersons have ample talent and caliber to bring laurels for state in various competition adding that they have proved their mettle making the state proud.
Secretary Sports Council, Wahid Parra, President, IBJP Association, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu, and other concerned were present on the occasion.
