JAMMU, Apr 12: To give away the prizes to those who had come out with flying colours in the Alka Memorial Competition Pir Panjal Zone, conducted under the banner of Jammu University Mathematical Society, Jammu at Govt PG College Rajouri earlier this year, the Prize Distribution Function was held in the College premises, here today.
The Competition was conducted and arranged under the leadership of Dr. Abdul Rouf, HoD Mathematics and the Convener of IQAC who is a nominated In-charge of the Colleges of Pir Panjal Zone.
Many Colleges of Rajouri Poonch including HEM Degree College Rajouri, GDC Mendhar, GDC Poonch, GDC Thannamandi and the PG College Rajouri had participated in the event.
Over 65 students from these Colleges displayed their participation in the renowned event.
Uzma Malik, student of Semester IV of Govt. PG College Rajouri stood first in this prestigious Competition, while Sadhvi Gupta, stduent of B.Sc Semester IV bagged 2nd prize and the 3rd prize was given to Sahil Sharma, Shubham Sharma and Nazma Sultana, students of Semester VI of PG College Rajouri and Govt. GDC Mendhar whereas the 4th prize went to Chahat Sharma and Parvez Ahmed, students of Semester IV of Govt. PG College Rajouri and HEM College Rajouri. The Consolation prizes were given to Ishfaq Ahmed, Zafar Husaain Semester IV of Govt. College Rajour and Tousia Maqbool, Irfan Mehmood Fani, Rukhsar Mohabbat of HEM College Rajouri, GDC Mendhar and GDC Poonch.
Principal GDC Thannamandi Dr S. A Raina was the Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. Javed Khan from BGSBU Rajouri was the Guest of Honour , while the function was presided over by Prof S H Shah, Principal of the College.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Prof Asif Aijaz Lone and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Abdul Raouf.
Earlier, Dr. Mohd Akhlaq of Mathematics Department presented welcome address.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion were Prof Haqeeqat Singh Isher, HoD PG Department of Chemistry; Prof Javed Mughal, HoD English; Prof M R Sharma, HoD Zoiology; Prof Bashir Ahmed, HoD Physics; Prof M Farooq Mirza, HoD Education; Dr Anwar Shah, Department of Botany; Prof Z A Mirza, Prof Assadullah Khan, Prof Mohd Iqbal Raina, Dr Mohd Saleem Wani, Dr Nazakat Quershi HoD History, Prof Yasir Choudhary and Prof Ghulam Abbas HoD Persian.
