JAMMU, Aug 29: BJP launched several programmes under Pradhan Mantri’s Suraksha Abhiyan on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan today.
Invoking women folk to join the Suraksha Abhiyan drive, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture, Priya Sethi today called upon people to register more and more under the ambit of PM Narendra Modi’s novel flagship social security programme, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna (PMSBY).
She said Prime Minister has initiated number of social security schemes and a special campaign is underway on this Raksha Bandhan to enable maximum participation of women in these schemes.
Priya along with senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi was addressing a special camp organized on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan at Peerkho here today. The programme was organized with an objective to enroll more and more women under the programme.
Over 16,000 women were enrolled during the camp.
On the occasion Yudhvir Sethi also declared premium for women under PMSBY to over one thousand women as a gift to sisters on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and assured them that every year the premium will be paid by him.
Another programme was held by BJP leaders at Baramulla in connection with Central Government sponsored scheme Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana among the females. The scheme was launched by BJP leader Muhammad Anwar Khan.
In a statement here, the BJP said that more than 350 ladies registered their name on spot through Jammu and Kashmir Bank. The function was held at Dak Bunglow Baramulla where a Bank official registered the name of ladies. On the occasion Mohammad Anwar Khan said scores of schemes would be launched in India for the development of poor and needy people and other youths. “We are going to launch all schemes in Kashmir,” he added.
He said the scheme will be a one year cover and renewable from year to year. “Accident Insurance scheme offering accidental death and disability cover for death or disability on account of an accident. The scheme would be offered / administered through Public Sector General Insurance Companies (PSGICs) and other General Insurance companies willing to offer the product on similar terms with necessary approvals and tie up with Banks for this purpose.
Besides Khan, State secretary BJP Raja Arif, Abdul Rashid Dar, Farooq Ahmad Bhat and other leaders and scores of workers were present on the occasion.
