Priya pays visit to Govt schools, inspects examination centers

JAMMU, Mar 6: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture and Tourism, Priya Sethi today visited several examination centers in Jammu and took stock of arrangements made by State Board of School Education for students for smooth conduct of examinations.
She said that this is for the first time that schools where there are examination centers have been asked to stay off for the day so that incidents of mass cheating or any other kind of disturbance is avoided.
Considering the stress of examinations on the students, Priya appealed the parents to not put much examination pressure on their children. The aim shall not be to score only higher grades but to attain the knowledge and contribute towards the welfare of the society and development of the nation.
During her visit to Government Model Central Basic Higher Secondary School, the Minister laid foundation for the floor tile work as a part of the upgradation programme under State funds for the school. Under the scheme “Strengthening / Renovation in HS/HSS Schools, a total of Rs 9.90 lakhs were released for the renovation of the school which includes the work for laying vitrified tiles and ceramic glazed tiles for store/bio and commerce class rooms and classrooms from 9th to 12th standard.
Citing the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment, the Minister announced funds to be released from her CDF for enhancing the sanitation facilities.
Taking stock of the ongoing work for the playway wing in the school premises, the Minister directed the school administration to prepare a proper publicity plan to spread the word for the opening of admissions for the playway wing.
During her visit to Government Primary School, Jullaka Mohalla, the Minister directed the concerned officials to make the school functional by starting the nursery and primary classes.
Later, the Minister visited Government Middle School, Digiana and directed for the completion of the ongoing work at the earliest while maintaining the quality norms. Taking serious note of damaged and unsafe structure in the school premises, the Minister directed the concerned officials to prepare a report in this regard.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA East, Rajesh Gupta, Joint Director, Education, Charanjeet Singh, Chief Education Officer, Jammu, JK Sudan, senior politician, Yudhvir Sethi besides senior functionaries of the concerned departments.
