Prisoner dies under mysterious circumstances

JAMMU, Oct 3: A prisoner lodged in District Jail, Amphalla, today died here at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
According to a police spokesman, the deceased prisoner identified as Lekh Raj (90) son of Sunder Dass, resident of Jullas, tehsil Haveli, district Poonch, was spending his life sentence in District Jail, Amphalla.
“Yesterday he was shifted to GMCH Jammu after his health condition suddenly deteriorated”, the spokesman said, adding, he expired today during treatment. He further informed that a case under relevant sections was registered at concerned police station and investigations started.
“After conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a magisterial enquiry has also been ordered into the death of the deceased”, he further added.
