JAMMU, Sept 27: A prisoner of Central Jail Kot Bhalwal today died under mysterious circumstances.
According to a police official, a prisoner identified as Ravinder Singh son of Balwant Singh, resident of Belicharana, who was lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal after being convicted in a case of NDPS Act, was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu after his condition suddenly deteriorated.
“However, he was declared as brought dead by the doctors when he reached hospital”, the official said, adding, the body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
He further said that Gharota police has initiated inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC in the case to ascertain the reasons behind his death.
