Prioritize major works under Cluster Model Village projects: Zulfkar

RAJOURI, Apr 9: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, today asked the district administration to prioritize major works including road connectivity, bridges, electricity and water supply besides establishing income generating units under prestigious projects of Tribal Cluster Model Village.
The Minister said this while addressing a meeting convened to review the achievements under Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Plan and Article 275(1) besides taking stock of major projects in tourism sector.
MLA Rajouri Qammar Hussain Choudhary was also present in the meeting.
Taking serious view of slow pace of work on various hostel buildings, the Minister set deadlines for completion of all these buildings and impressed upon the concerned that no laxity would be tolerated on this account. He asked the executing agencies to ensure proper tendering process for approved projects as per the prescribed norms.
Stressing that the funds under Tribal Sub-Plan are supplementary to CAPEX plan of the district, Zulfkar said the plan formulation should involve inter-sectoral convergence for ensuring maximum benefits to these economically downtrodden and weaker sections of society.
The Minister, while referring to the huge potential in Rajouri for growth of dairy sector, asked the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer to carry out detailed survey of dairy requirements in the district beside identifying locations for setting up of Milk Plants with all requisite modern equipments. He added that cooperative societies will be formulated to run these units with provision of linking these with market.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, informed that district has incurred Rs 7.14 crore out of allocated amount of Rs. 9.37 crore on construction of G&B hostels at Kalakote, Koteranka and Nagrota, additional block of G&B hostel Rajouri, Residential School at Miara in addition to establishment of Milk Village at Argi and Cluster Model Village Lah & Dhoke.
The meeting was also attended by Director Tribal Affairs Mohd Rafi, Secretary T A Mukhtar Ahmed, SSP Yougal Manhas, Addl DC Shafiq Ahmed, Join Director Tourism Shoket Hussain Malik, CEO RDA Dr Tahir Firdous, ExEns Nisar Khan, Mushtaq Raina and Munshi Khan, CPO A H Choudhary, DSWO Dr Abdul Khabir, CEO Lal Hussain besides other senior officers of district administration.
