Prime land retrieved, Khilafwarzi Inspector suspended

RAJOURI, June 18: A joint team of Revenue and Police officers late night carried out a drive for removal of encroachment after construction of illegal structures was noticed.
Five structures including three residential sheds were demolished and prime land measuring 2.3 Kanals was retrieved.
Tehsildar Rajouri Salam Din Chouhan and SHO Sudhanshu Verma leading a contingent of nearly 30 men pressed into action and demolished 5 illegal structures amid strong resistance from encroachers.
Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, upon receipt of information informed Tehsildar Rajouri who alerted the Khilafwarzi Inspector and Patwari to visit spot. Khilafwarzi Inspector reported having stopped the construction.
Deputy Commissioner also visited the spot and found construction in full swing. Thereafter, Tehsildar and SHO carried out demolition, drive. Executive Officer, MC Rajouri remained untraceable while Khilafwarzi Inspector reported one hour late after repeated calls.
During demolition the encroachers alleged that Khilafwarzi Inspector had allowed the construction after receiving bribe of Rs 40,000.
In view of his non-cooperation in stopping encroachment and removal of structures, and in view of complaint received during demolition, the Khilafwarzi Inspector Mohd Farooq has been placed under suspension and attached with DC office.
Meanwhile, show cause notice has been served to Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Rajouri for his failure to respond to the situation and remaining untraceable. Additional District Development Commissioner, A S Chib will conduct an enquiry into the matter.
The prime land valuing nearly Rs 1 crore has been kept on spurdnama and is being fenced. The operation was completed at 1:30am.
