‘Pride of Pir Panchal Award’ conferred upon Tahir Khurshid

JAMMU, Oct 19: Jammu and Kashmir Alig Society organized Sir Syed Day function at Government Degree College Poonch.
Galaxy of intellectuals of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, students, people from  other walks of life and representatives of district administration Poonch participated in the function.
Tahir Khurshid Raina, Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch was the chief guest on the occasion while Nisar Ahmed Wani, District Development Commissioner Poonch presided over the function. S N Khajuria, a senior Alig and Padamshree Awardee was  the guest of honour.
On the occasion, contribution of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan in the field of education was remembered.  Prof Mushraf Shah, convener of the Society presented welcome address and also presented the objectives of the society.
On the occasion, Jammu and Kashmir Alig Society Poonch conferred “Pride of Pir Panchal Award” on  Tahir Khurshid Raina, who is an alumni of  Aligarh Muslim University, for his extraordinary performance during his whole carrier  and especially being  first Alig in the State of Jammu and Kashmir to qualify prestigious J&K Higher Judicial Services Examination 2012 with distinction.
A citation with regard to outstanding performance of Mr Raina was read out by Prof G L Sharma (Rtd Principal). Tahir khurshid Raina hails from Thannamandi town of Rajouri district and son of renowned poet and educationist of the State Khurshid Bismil.
