PREWA highlights demands

JAMMU, Jan 31:  J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) today made a strong plea to the Government to pay DA arrears from January to June 2009 to Pre- 2006 Pensioners,  which stand paid to the employees and post -2006 pensioners as well.
The Association also demanded enhancement of  Medical Allowance from existing paltry rate of Rs 300 to at least Rs  1000 in view of steeply rising medicare expenses.
Krishan Singh,  PREWA president,  said that the announcement made by the Government to implement 7th CPC’s report in April 2018 effective from January 2016, release of 3 percent  D A from July 2017 in respect of State pensioners and employees in cash , revision of minimum daily wage to Rs  225 and  extending the facility of Group Mediclaim policy in favour of pensioners are some of the steps taken in the right direction to mitigate their hardships they are facing due to sky rocketing price of all essentialities of life.
The PREWA also reiterated demand for  reframing welfare rules for serving / retired Prison personnel (Both Gazetted/ Non-Gazetted) in accordance  with their present day needs and aspirations as the existing rules have become obsolete.
