Presentation Convent takes on GD Goenka in U-17 Girls TT finals

JAMMU, Apr 19: Blanking their rivals easily in the semifinal clashes, Presentation Convent and GD Goenka Public School have sealed berth in Table Tennis Under-17 Girls finals in District Jammu Inter-School Competitions, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
In the first semifinal, Presentation Convent defeated Heritage School by (3-0), while in another semifinal match in this category, GD Goenka blanked Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu by (3-0).
In Table Tennis Under-14 Girls semifinal, GD Goenka defeated Heritage School by (3-2) sets.
The matches were officiated by Sandeep, Gpourav Sharma and Neeru Jabalia.
In Chess Under-14 Girls semifinal, APS Miran Sahib beat Model Academy and APS Sunjwan got better of Manik Public School, while in Chess Under-17 Girls semifinal, APS Miran Sahib prevailed over Maharishi Vidyamandir and BSF also defeated Maharishi Vidyamandir in another semifinal.
The matches were officiated by Raman Sharma, Ravinder Singh and Nitin Sethi.
In Carrom Under-17 Girls doubles,    Govt. Girls High School Sohanjana drubbed Maharishi Vidya Mandir and SOS beat BSF Paloura, while in Carrom Under-14 girls doubles, Wazir Janki Nath got better of SOS and DBN Amar Villa beat APS Domana.
The matches were officiated by Jasbir Singh Bhau, Kamal Singh, Seema Mehra and Mayank Jain.
In Badminton Under-17 girls, Guru Nanak HSS Gole Gujral defeated Jammu Sanskriti School by 2-1 sets, while Maharishi Vidya Mandir beat MRLD Memorial Public School by 2-0 sets.
In Badminton Under-14 girls, Wazir Janki Nath School trounced Jammu Sanskriti School by 2-0 sets, Heritage beat DBN Amarvilla by 2-0 sets and Presentation Convent prevailed over DBN by 2-0 sets.
The matches were officiated by Harcharan Singh, Vikram Jamwal, Sanjay Khajuria and Tarunpal Singh.
The Competitions are being held in the disciplines of Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis and Carrom Under-14 and Under-17 Girls.
In all, 250 players drawn from Govt./Pvt. Institutions of District Jammu are taking part in the competitions.
The objective of these competitions is to select the teams in these disciplines for the forthcoming higher level competitions.
