Prepare comprehensive plan of deep drains: Kavinder

JAMMU, Aug 28: Former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta visited Hakumat Lane in Ward 58 Digiana and took the stock of the road and other basis amenities there. He was apprised by the public that they lack all basic facilities with the result their problems have compounded day by day.
Gupta took note of all the genuine demands and asked PWD authorities to start the work of blacktopping of the road at the earliest. He assured the public that macamadization of the Hakumat lane shall start within couple of days and other demands would be met in the shortest possible time. He further said it is his duty to fight and work for the public of his Constituency.
He said that the Gandhi Nagar Constituency is consistent of rural and urban belt having many deep drains. These drains create havoc in rainy season to the localities they pass through. Adding further he said that he is preparing a comprehensive plan of the construction of such deep drains along with all other small drains of Gandhi Nagar. The matter would be taken up with the Union Government for funding of the same.
Gupta was accompanied by Baldev Blowria, Harbans Choudhary, Paramjit Singh among others. Later while addressing the gathering at Bhore Camp Chatha, Gupta said that he has visited many areas and taken the stock of damages caused due to rains. He said that the work in all the damaged public properties such as deep drains and the washing away of the protection wall of Shamshan Ghaat would be started soon. He also said that advance planning and preparedness to meet natural disasters is to be developed and all advanced countries have contingency management plans and effective forecasting through which they are able to minimise the effects of natural disasters. “Our Government will make every endeavour to develop such capacities” he added.
On the issue of damages caused to the private properties Gupta said that he will depute the team of Government officials led by SDM South shortly to assess the quantum of the losses suffered, and then get the needful done on priority. Various delegations met the former Deputy Chief Minister during his visit and put forth their demands.
