Prem Nath Bhat Trust intensifies campaign for Temples Bill

JAMMU, July 8: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) organised a meeting of the leaders of the various KP organizations and leading members of the society here, today.
Chairman PNBMT, Shiban Khaibri, its secretary, Sundri Lal Koul, Adv. Kashmiri Lal Bhat and Virender Raina also attended the meeting which reviewed the progress relating to the passage of Kashmiri Hindu Temples and Shrines Bill and also sought suggestions from the community leadership for a definitive plan of action for the successful navigation of the Bill.
K.K.Khosa, while speaking expressed serious concern regarding the condition of the temple and shrines in Kashmir. He expressed dismay at the manner the temple properties have been allowed to get dwindled and vandalised in the Valley ever since the exodus of the community. He also suggested for reorientation of the strategies to derive positive results.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo expressed shock at the manner the temples of Kashmir are vanishing. He said that they have been the symbols of KPs faith and culture for the last over 5000 years and are a precious treasure of the pristine Sharda civilization. The temples and shrines of Kashmir have seen a continuous process of neglect and apathy ever since the exodus of KPs.
Prof A.N.Sadhu expressed concern that with the further deteriorating situation in Kashmir there is an imminent threat to the very existence of these places of worship.
Members of the PNBMT said that the passage of the Bill alone can create a legal and institutional framework that would ensure the safety of these temples. They stressed on intensifying the efforts to create a national level consciousness for the passage of the Bill.
They disclosed that in the days to come the Trust would be meeting all the important functionaries and lawmakers particularly the officials of the present dispensation to explore the possibilities for bringing an ordinance on the Temples and Shrines Bill in Kashmir.
