KATRA, Sept 27: On sixth and last day of the preliminary rounds of All India Devotional Song Competition, Dr Shivankar Bharti from Jammu clinched Ist position and qualified directly for semi final, to be held on 28th September.
2nd position was shared jointly by Rashpal Singh and Kirpal Singh duet from Punjab and Surinder from Jammu while 3rd position was held by Rakesh Malhotra from Jammu. These winners thus qualified for straight entry to quarter final. There were total 13 auditioned participants and the winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 3,000, respectively, alongwith gift hampers from Roots Herbals.
The grand finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition will be held on 29th of September and the winners will be awarded with gold amounting to Rs 3 lakh and a recording contract with Venus Records &Tapes Ltd and likewise the runners ups will get gold worth Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000/- respectively.
The Devotional Song Competition was adjudged by the panel of experts in music, including Bollywood renowned singer Shankar Sahni, Prof Anupama Sharma and V.K Sambyal.
The proceedings of competition were conducted by Rakesh Wazir who is also the Chairman of the said competition. He informed that celebrity singers Diljaan and Masha Ali will perform on Sept 28.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by lighting of the traditional lamp by renowned Bollywood singers Shanker Sawhney, Hasmit, Sultana and Akira in presence of Addl SP Katra , Chief Education Officer Reasi, Bishan Singh, CPO Reasi Ranjeet Singh , DySP Katra Ashok Sharma, DySPs Subash Bhardwaj, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Rakesh Wazir, Yog Acharya Swami Yoga Nand Ji Maharaj, Shyam Lal Kesar, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Virender Kesar, Ajay Kotwal etc.
