Pre-cast beam of bridge over Bein river collapses

SAMBA, Mar 7: A pre-stressed and pre-cast concrete beam of a newly under construction bridge over river Bein in village Laley Chak in Ghagwal area of Samba district to be constructed by Border Road Organization has slipped during launching.
However no loss of life is reported. According to sources the two pillars of the bridge were constructed and pre-stressed pre-cast concrete beam was being loaded on it through the machinery. However it slipped down and collapsed.
When contacted the DC Samba, Sheetal Nanda said that the beam slipped during launching but the work is going on the border road. However there was no one from BRO available for comments.
Bein nallah is a border point between the twin districts of Samba and Kathua.
