Refer to the news item regarding the seizing of 2500 electric heaters by PDD in district Kathua .
The step taken by the Department is worth appreciation and urge the department to take such stringent measures in all the districts of J&K .
I have in the past sent mails to the officials of the Department regarding the blatant misuse /theft of power in Bantalab area where more than 500 illegal connections in the unauthorised Jhuggis rented out by people on vacant plots of land exist. These illegal connections are hooked mostly after 5 PM in the evening and the same causes huge fluctuations in the regular supply . Most of these pockets are located in the Bharat nagar area in the 500 meter radius of the tubewell.
Besides these illegal connections a large number of illegal cooking heaters and airconditioners are also being used but there is no check by the department. The genuine public who regularly pay their bills as per the power consumed are made to suffer .
It is my humble appeal to the PDD department to immediately install tamper free wires and electric meters in all the households besides disconnecting all the illegal connections and confiscating the gadgets illegally being used by stealing the power.
