JAMMU, Jan 18: Power employees today held strong protest demonstrations and `dharnas’ in front of the office of Managing Director, Power Development Corporation at Satwari and the Chief Engineer (M&RE) at Canal Head, here today.
A large number of employees, under the banner of J&K Central Non-Gazetted Electrical Employees Union led by Parshotam Sharma, Mohd Aslam Choudhary, Gurnam Slathia and others held strong protest demonstration and projected demands of the employees. The speakers during the protest pointed out that the MD PDC had entered into an agreement with the Union representatives that all the daily wagers of the PDC from the State would be regularized by Dec 31, 2013 but the authorities have failed to keep their commitment.
The employees leaders further projected other pending demands which included regularization and early conduct of DPC of all cadre etc. They demanded that district wise DPC be held and pending demands of the daily rated other workers be resolved. They also demanded to clarify the status of Rs 6.50 crore which was released by the Govt for disbursement of wages in favour of 1791 need based workers of PDD. They also demanded retrospective effect and pending arrears of already regularized daily wagers under SRO 64.
