Power employees oppose privatization, strike on Sept 24

JAMMU, Sept 20: The Power Development Employees Coordination Committee has strongly opposed the decision of the State Government to go for privatization in power sector.
A meeting of the Committee was held today at Gladni, Narwal in Jammu in which representatives of all Unions of the Power Development Department participated and deliberated on the concerns of employees arising out of the issue of unbundling of the Power Development Department and formation of Trade Company out of JKPDD as a first step by the Government vide SRO 396 dated September 11, 2018 .
Harvinder Singh, president JKEEGA, Jaipal Sharma, president DEA, Sachin Tickoo, Convenor Forum of Engineers, Sanjeev Bali, president PPEU, Ajaz Kazmi, general secretary PPEU, Jasbir Singh, president ITI employees, PC Sharma, president PEEU, Anil Slathia, Lineman Union, Tarun Gupta from PDD Daily Wager Employees Association and others were prominent among those present.
The participants discussed threadbare the issue of unbundling and the modus operandi adopted by the Government. It was felt that Government has kept the employees in dark and there has been no discussion among the stake holder employees while operationalising the plan of unbundling. The Government has failed to issue any Human Resource policy during the years and employees have been left in lurch. The Government should come out with clear policy. The Companies have been given liberty to hire services of private employees as per the requirement. The Government should come clear on the policies towards the employees working in the Power Develoment department.
The Govt has failed to issue regularisation orders, assured career progression, timely promotions, removal of pay anomalies of various cadres, enhancement of field allowance, and holding of DPC.
In order to Meanwhile, the representatives of all employees unions have decided to hold one day mass protest demonstration against the policies of the Government towards the Power Development Department employees. All employees of PDD shall participate in the protest on Monday, September, 24 at Chief Engineer’s office Canal Road, Jammu, the meeting resolved.
