Postmasters’ conference organised

JAMMU, Feb 24: With a view to apprise the staff about the IT Modernization Plan being implement in the Department of Post, J&K Circle, a one-day Postmaster’s conference was organized at Kala Kendra, Jammu. The conference was formally inaugurated by Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din in the presence of John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, J&K.
Speaking on the occasion Taj Mohi-ud-Din appreciated the role of Department of Posts especially the Chief Postmaster General for organizing conference for the Postmasters including the Branch Postmasters. He said it is seen that Department has accelerated its activities during the last couple of years which shows its commitment of technology updating. 
The Chief Postmaster General in his address said that transforming the postal network in J&K is the priority of India Post. He encouraged the Post Offices to move forward from “Good to Great”.  
Samuel announced that 14 Post Offices in the State will be modernized and dedicated to the public under Project Arrow before March 31, 2013 and Gandhi Nagar HPO with extended area for general public will be dedicated soon.
More than 500 Postmasters including the Branch Postmasters participated in the conference. To encourage postal employees for their outstanding performance and recognize their contribution, awards were presented to the postal employees by the chief guest.
V K Mehra, of Jammu HPO bagged the first prize for securing maximum business under Postal Life Insurance followed by Dalip Kumar Gumbal and S L Khajuria. BPM Chohala BO, BPM Jassore BO and BPM Dhar Dugnoo bagged first three places for procuring RPLI. SPM Ramgarh SO Ujjaghar Singh was awarded for highest Saving Accounts followed by Ghagwal SO, Janglote and Kharah BO.
Postmaster Kathua HO clinched the first prize for opening of highest number of new accounts while Dablehar SO ranked at second position followed by Amala BO under the category. Postmaster Gandhi Nagar HPO was awarded for procuring highest business under Speed Post followed by SPM Vinaik Bazar. The best Postal Assistant award was clinched by Aseem Sharma and under Best Postman Category Girdhari Lal of Talab Tillo was facilitated. Naresh Kumar was adjudged as best System Manager while Janipur Post Office was adjudged as the best Post Office in Jammu division.
