PoS machines to be installed in fair price shops soon: Zulfkar

JAMMU, Oct 3: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Information Department Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today said proper office spaces are essential for improving efficiency of the employees and ensuring prompt service delivery to consumers.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the Directorate of FCS&CA Complex at Ware House here. He directed the Assistant Directors, City-I, City-II and Trade and Stores to immediately shift their offices in the complex.
Commissioner/Secretary FCS&CA Department Shafiq Ahmed Raina, Director, FCS&CA R.A Inquilabi, Managing Director, J&K Housing Board Manmohan Singh, Joint Director, FCS&CA Mansoor Aslam, Joint Controller, Legal Metrology V.S Sambyal, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Manoj Prabhakar and other officers  were present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said state of the art building being raised at a cost of Rs. 10.33 crore will further improve the functioning of the department. He said that due consideration is  being given to improve the working of the department along with better infrastructural facilities and other logistics.
Listing the initiatives of the Government to improve the functioning of the department, the Minister said that the department has already started online allocation of food grains for speedy distribution of food grains among its consumers and keep a check on any pilferage besides effective implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA).
He said the department’s prime responsibility is to provide basic amenities including ration, kerosene and liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the people at their doorsteps and department shall leave no stone unturned in meeting the requirements and the aspirations of the people.
Zulfkar said that Point of Sales (PoS) machines with technologies like finger prints and smart card would be installed on fair price shops soon to make them more accountable and transparent.
The Minister directed MD, Housing Board to complete construction work of Office complexes at Narwal, Udhampur, Kathua and Bemina within a month’s time.
