Some interesting data regarding population can be deduced from the Census Report for 2001-2011 decade, both for the national and the State population figures. For example, it shows that fall in the ratio of female child in our State. This is despite many efforts made by the government to maintain parity between the genders.
The disturbing thing is that apart from J&K, the States of Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Meghalaya have also shown decline in female growth rate. Though the governments in these States have been emphasizing upon the people that parity between the males and females is of utmost importance, the same is not stabilizing. This means that the government and social organizations have to make more dedicated efforts to bring about equilibrium of sorts in the population ratio in our country.
