Politicians behaving like separatists: Dr Jitendra

Excelsior Correspondent

NEW DELHI, July 23: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has alleged that some so-called mainstream politicians are behaving like separatists, just to push forward their opportunistic agenda and, in doing so, they are infact causing more harm to Kashmir than even the separatists.
Addressing a seminar here on the eve of “Kargil Divas” to be observed on July 26, Dr Jitendra Singh said, over the years, the separatist lobby in Kashmir has developed a         certain approach which is visibly identifiable, even though it is devoid of conviction or ideology and based more on convenience. For the separatist leaders of Kashmir, their secessionist line helps them to sustain their relevance, both in polity as well as media, he added.
However, on the other hand, Dr Jitendra Singh said, certain so-called mainstream politicians have developed the art of speaking different languages on different occasions, depending upon political expediency. “They are ready to swear by India when in power but overnight start questioning the status of Kashmir when thrown out of power,” he said and added that if the same opportunist politicians are again restored back to the seat of power, then they would again start swearing by India and Kashmir as an integral part of India.
Time has come to unmask both these categories of Kashmir-centric activists and expose their duplicity, said Dr Jitendra Singh and observed that Jammu & Kashmir today comprised a large majority of population below the age of 35 to 40 and these youth are ready to take this call. For instance, any Kashmir protagonist, who instigates youngsters to take to the gun, should be asked to first hand over gun to his own children. Similarly, he said, any so-called mainstream politician who has doubts about Kashmir being a part of India, should first give up all the privileges available to him as legislator or ex-legislator, MP or ex-MP and resign from the position held under the Constitution of India.
Referring to Pakistan as a perpetual hostile neighbour who has never and will never reconcile to Jammu & Kashmir being part of India, Dr Jitendra Singh said, as far “as we are concerned, the only issue is to retrieve back part of Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) which continues to remain under illegal occupation of Pakistan and to restore back the original territorial integrity of Kashmir in the same form as was handed over by Maharaja Hari Singh.”
Dr Jitendra Singh profusely lauded the security forces and said, the kind of retaliatory action from the Indian side witnessed on the border today, was never seen during the earlier years or under the earlier Governments.
