KISHTWAR, Mar 2: Police worked out a case of culpable homicide with the arrest of the accused.
Interacting with media persons, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abrar Chowdhary said that on February 23 this year, a dead body of a man identified as Mohammad Hussain, son of Sikander Butt of Seer Bhata, Dool, tehsil Nagsani was found lying in pool of blood at the bank of river Chenab.
On receiving the information, police team visited the spot and examined the scene of crime and took the custody of the dead body, Chowdhary stated.
Police got the postmortem of the deceased conducted in the District Hospital Kishtwar through a board of doctors and initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC, SSP said, adding that during the course of investigation, it came to fore that Imtiyaz Ahmed alias Bhola, son of Lassa Butt of Kijayi Paddar has killed the deceased as the deceased was having illicit relations with the relative of the accused.
“The accused was chasing the deceased and the latter falls down from a steep fall into gorge and got killed”, SSP said, adding that the accused later escaped from the spot and got arrested today.
Police has converted the proceedings initiated under Section 174 CrPC into FIR Number 50/18 under Section 304 RPC. Beside other evidences, police will get the statements of the witnesses recorded before the magistrate under Section 164-A CrPC.
Further investigation of the case is in progress.
Police team led by SHO Kishtwar Inspector Sameer Jeelani made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Nihar Ranjan, Additional SP Kishtwar Perbeet Singh and SSP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary.
