Police to launch people-centric policing: DIG Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 6: In order to improve police-public interface, J&K Police as per the directions of the Police Headquarters and in view of changed political scenario is launching people-centric policing.
This was disclosed by Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range during the darbar of police officers and jawans held here.
DIG Jammu underscored the need for the police to come closer to the people for better policing. He advised all the officers and jawans to inculcate behavioral changes while dealing with complainants especially in Police Stations as complainants/ aggrieved persons are required to be treated with decency in order to bridge the gap between police and public.
He also directed all the supervisory officers to ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning of police in order to gain public confidence. He said that all SHOs and incharge police posts shall personally inculcate the behavioral changes among the duty officers and Munshis, who have to firstly deal with the complainants/destitute persons.
DIG Jammu also heard the grievances of the jawans and advised the SSP Samba to take care of welfare measures of the jawans, so that they are able to perform their duties efficiently.
He also emphasized to focus on tracking all social evils, border management, drug mafia and bovine smuggling with an iron hand as these issues have potential of creating law and order problems.
Joginder Singh SSP Samba assured that the instructions imparted by the DIG Jammu shall be implemented in letter and spirit.
Later, DIG took the salute at the march past.
Among others present were Faisal Qureshi Additional SP Samba, Suresh Kumar Chib SP DAR Samba, Shamsher Singh Sambyal SDPO Vijaypur, Vijay Paul Singh DySP Headquarters and officers/officials of District Samba.
