Police solves hit & run case in Kangan

Srinagar, Dec 27: Police today claimed to have solved a case of hit and run in Kangan area in Ganderbal district.
A police spokesperson said an unknown vehicle had hit a pedestrian namely Abdur Rashid Wani son of Sanaullah Wani, resident of Mammer Kangan while he was on his way to Kangan. “Taking advantage of darkness the driver managed to flee from the spot along with the vehicle,” he said.
He added a case was registered under FIR No 113/2017, sections 279, 337 RPC in Police Station Kangan and a manhunt was launched to nab the culprit. “After strenuous efforts put in by Police Station Kangan, the vehicle (Alto bearing registration No UP16F 5199) was traced and the driver Farooq Ahmad Ahangar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ahangar resident of Surfraw was arrested within 24 hours of the incident,” he said.
