Police seize liquor, one held

KATHUA, July 4: Billawar Police has seized 40 bottles of whisky from one drug peddler at Banjli in Lohi Mallhar tehsil.
As per a handout issued by district Police Kathua, Inspector Vijay, SHO, Police Station Billawar along with his team today on a tip off seized 40 bottles of whisky in illegal possession of Sudesh Kumar S/o Jameet Raj R/o Banjli teh Lohai Malhar.
Police registered a case FIR No 79/2018 u/s 48(a) Excise Act and arrested the accused. Further investigation into the matter is going on.
SSP Kathua, Shridhar Patil has appealed people of the area to come forward and make this drive against illegal liquor menace a people’s movement.
Meanwhile Raj Bagh Police seized 40 liquor nips from a lady at village Bandour tehsil, Marheen today.
Police said Inspector Devinder Singh, SHO, PS Rajbagh along with his team today on a tip off conducted raid near Bandour and seized 40 liquor nips from one lady Najama Devi, W/O late Lovely Kumar of Bandour tehsil Marheen. She was selling the liquor illegally.
Police registered a case FIR No 162/2018 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act against her and arrested the lady. The further investigation in the case has been initiated.
