Police officer, PDP worker shot dead

Srinagar, Oct 28: Militants today killed a police officer and a worker of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Pulwama and Srinagar districts respectively while a Special Police Officer (SPO) was shot at in Central Kashmir last night.
Militants this evening shot dead a Sub-Inspector, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Wahibugh village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The militants intercepted the police officer who was travelling in his private car and was heading home. Mir, who was posted with the CID, was shot dead near Romshi Nallah in Wahibugh. A resident of Sontbug, Pulwama he was presently posted at Shergari Police Station in Srinagar.
Police is investigating how Mir’s movement in the area was leaked to militants as it looked that they were tracking him.
A massive search operation was launched in the area against the militants responsible for the attack.
A wreath laying ceremony of Mir was held at District Police Lines Pulwama. Inspector General of Police SP Pani laid floral wreaths and paid rich tributes to the officer. Among others who laid wreaths included DIG SKR, SSP Pulwama and other senior officers of police and security forces.
And a PDP worker, Mohammad Amin Bhat was shot at by militants in Gangbugh area of Tengpora in the outskirts of Srinagar this evening.
Bhat was shot at outside his house in village Gangbugh and militants fled away leaving him in a pool of blood. He was removed to SKIMS Bemina hospital in a critical condition, where he succumbed to multiple bullet injuries.
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched searches against the militants responsible for the attack.
He was close aide of senior PDP leader and former Minister, Altaf Bukhari. Police has registered a case in this regard and investigation has been initiated.
Militants fired at a Special Police Officer (SPO) at Chrawni area of Charar-e-Sharief in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district last night.
Militants fired upon SPO, Mohammad Hafiz at Chrawni village. He was injured in the leg. Hafeez, posted at SDPO office Charar-e-Sharif, was shifted to the nearby hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.
Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants.
And militants attacked an Army patrol at a village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district today.
A patrolling party of 34 RR was fired in Poterwal village around 4.20 p. m. The Army returned the fire. However, there was no casualty.
