Police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 10 bovines

SAMBA, Feb 24: Ghagwal police foiled a bid of bovine smuggling on the intervening night of Feb 23 and 24 by rescuing 10 bovines.
According to a police spokesman, Ghagwal police laid a surprise naka at Tapyal Morh and during checking signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-4653 which was coming from Kathua side to stop but instead of stopping the driver of vehicle accelerated his vehicle and tried to escape.
“However, the alert cops chased the vehicle and intercepted the truck near Jatwal Chowk. On checking of the vehicle, 10 bullocks were found tied mercilessly in a congested place in the vehicle”, the spokesman said, adding, taking advantage of the darkness the driver of vehicle fled from spot leaving behind his vehicle.
He said that a case FIR No 18/2017 under Sections 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 184/179 MV Act has been registered in this connection at police station Ghagwal and efforts were on to nab the driver of the vehicle.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarter, Samba, Tanveer and SSP Samba, Sh Anil Magotra.
