Police foils attempts of smuggling liquor, bovines

REASI, Mar 2: Police today foiled separate attempt of smuggling liquor to holy town Katra and bovine animals to Kashmir Valley.
A Police team headed by Sub Inspector Gurvinder Singh, I/C PP Talwara, was on patrolling duty at Baradari Bridge Talwara when the accused was intercepted and 40 Poly Pouches, measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor, were recovered from his possession.
Police seized the liquor pouches and arrested the accused, who was identified as Sultan Singh of Badnota, Pancheri in Udhampur, at present Daroor Banganga Katra.
In this connection, a case FIR U/S 48-A Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
Meanwhile, in another success, Reasi Police also foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling at Zero Morh Talwara and rescued two animals besides arresting two accused, identified as Abrar Hussain and Mumtaz Ahmed, both residents of Mahore.
They were carrying the bovine animals, without any legal documents, in a vehicle bearing registration number JK20-4783. They intended to smuggle these bovine animals towards Kashmir. Police also seized the vehicle and registered a case FIR No.34/2017 U/S 188 RPC at Police Station Reasi.
