PoK man dies soon after arrival

JAMMU, Apr 23: After a long span of over 48 years, a man hailing from Mirpur in Pak occupied Kashmir arrived at his original native place in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch just to take his last breath.
This 90-year-old man, Mohd Shakoor alias Shakroo, son of  Fakhroo, a resident of  Hamidabad Colony, Chak Swari in Mirpur (PoK) expressed his desire to once visit his original native/ birth place -Kas Baladi in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch from where he had migrated in 1965.
The elderly man along with his son  Mohd Shehzad arrived at Kas Baladi on Monday evening (April 21). He entered  this side via Chakkan-da-Bagh cross LoC point in Poonch. He had 28-day travel permit to visit his native village in J&K. The visitor and his son Mohd Shahzad were staying with his nephew- Mohd Hanief, son of Said Akbar, a Forest Guard at Kas Baladi for the last two days.
Today morning, Shakroo complained of chest pain at his  nephew’s house. The family removed  the elderly visitor to Mendhar hospital where he was declared as brought dead. Mendhar police performed all the legal formalities and also got postmortem of the body conducted. Heart attack was said to be the reason behind death. After crossing over to PoK in 1965, it was first ever visit of Mohd Shakoor to his native village in Mendhar. The locals said his death was destined here that is why he arrived here after a long gap of 48 years.
The district administration Poonch on the request of  Mohd Hanief and and Shehzad contacted Pakistani authorities.  The dead body was then  dispatched to Mirpur in PoK by opening gates at Chakkan-da-Bagh with special permission at around 5.30 pm.  The police party from Mendhar accompanied. The family from that side had also arrived to receive the dead body.
