PoK DPs will boycott Panchayat polls: Chuni

SAMBA, Mar 13: SOS International, an organization of PoK displaced persons today declared that the DPs would boycott the upcoming Panchayat polls if the Central Govt failed to announce the second installment of the Prime Minister’s package for them.
Addressing a rally at Ramgarh in district Samba today, SOS Intl chairman Rajiv Chuni appealed to the DPs to strengthen the organization with zeal and passion. He declared that the displaced persons would boycott Panchayat elections if the Government failed to announce second installment of the PM’s package. He said that Rs 2000 crore has been considered as the first installment of the package by the DPs.
Chuni further said that as the process of getting claim of 1st installment under relief amount package is underway, PoK DPs are in acute state of confusion because authorities have incorporated different rules and regulations resulting in ultimate pandemonium. “The procedure has been made too, complicated that are adding more woes to the suffered PoK DPs community who have been suffering and constrained to spend their lives in gloomy conditions for the last seven decades. In one hand, Divisional Commissioner Jammu is appealing PoK DPs to get their claims swiftly and in other hand, complications in the process has turned another headache”, Chuni added.
He further alleged that there is no proper liaison among various bodies of Government. Different parameters are being incorporated in different districts as different guidelines are being used for the PoK DPs of district Poonch and on the contrary, district Rajouri has got unlike guidelines. The same circumstances are also being witnessed in other districts. He asked Government to begin course of delivering relief package to 5300 PoK DPs families that were kept away from it.
Chuni said that PoK DPs’ vote play a vital role in the State and Panchayat elections are scheduled to be held this year. ” It is just the 1st installment of relief package and there is state of confusion also. Until and unless, Government affirms the date of 2nd installment before Panchayat polls, PoK DPs won’t participate in elections,” he added.
