SAMBA, Nov 5: The Punjab National Bank (PNB) Branch, Vijaypur suffered damage after fire broke out in the building housing the bank this evening.
According to reports, the cause of fire was short circuit of wires near CCTV. The computer monitors and chairs and some other gadgets were damaged in the fire. However major tragedy was averted due to timely internal alarm system in the Bank and pressing of fire tender into the service.
Reports said the fire tender from Samba reached within some minutes and doused the blaze and controlled the fire from spreading in entire building due to which the major loss was averted.
SHO Samba, Rajinder Sharma said that the cause of fire has been ascertained due to sparking in wires near CCTV. He said monitor, chairs, other furniture and DVR as well as wires were burnt in the fire. However it was brought under control immediately to avert the major tragedy.
Soon as the news spread the staff and officers of the Bank also reached the spot to ascertain the situation.
